Ian is the Head of Profession for WSP’s Intelligent Transport business in the UK. He is involved the development and operational safety of the UK’s first connected corridors.

Ian has played, and continues to play, a leading role in the development and implementation of smart motorways in the UK, including the leadership of the operational aspects of the ground-breaking Active Traffic Management Pilot.

He is chair of ITS (UK) and a UK representative on the World Roads Association, Task Force B2 ‘Automated vehicles: challenges and opportunities for road operators and road authorities’.

Technology has an important role to play in creating a society in which everyone can thrive – enabling mobility and the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and data. Matching technology to real needs is fundamental if we are to achieve those goals and make a real and positive difference to society.
